The wait is finally over. An American Idol has been named and a former paint salesman’s dreams have finally come true. Lee DeWyze, from Mount Prospect, Illinois, was named the winner of season 9, much to the delight of those who voted for him.
Lee DeWyze Wins American Idol Season 9 was the surprising headline in the TV world this Wednesday night. Most fans and TV critics expected Crystal Bowersox to win, but the public decided otherwise. 2% was the difference between winning and losing on American Idol 2010 season finale. Simon Cowell the ‘Idol’ judge known for his supposed meanness and who will be leaving the show, got a little emotional, here is what he said:
“I didn’t think I was going to be this emotional and I genuinely am. … Everybody asks who’s going to replace me, who going to be the next judge. The truth is you guys are the judge of this show and you’ve done an incredible job over the years.”
Let’s enjoy the American Idol 2010 (Season 9) winner Lee DeWyze’s 3 Songs in Finale:
1. The Boxer;
2. Everyboby Hurts;
3. Beautiful Day.
“Hallelujah” is a song written by Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen and originally released on his studio album Various Positions (1984).
Although “Hallelujah” achieved little initial success, in recent years its cover versions have been performed by a large number and broad range of artists, both in recordings and in concert.
Lee DeWyz, the 24-year-old Illinois sales clerk hit the ball out of the park on Tuesday night. Lee DeWyz was the dominant force on stage and clearly proved, as the American Idol judges love to say, he’s in it to win it. The song “Hallelujah” (by Leonard Cohen) Lee DeWyz sang was selected by Simon Cowell, and it turned out to be the total Lee DeWyze version. For the second time on the same night, Lee was full of raw emotion and sang his heart out. Backed up by a gospel choir and lots of instrumentation, the song sounded terrific, Lee energized the crowd and he brought some people in the audience to tears.
“I’ve been waiting all season, man, to see who’s gonna throw down the real gauntlet to try and win the whole thing!” Randy exclaimed. “This was, I think, your biggest moment at the biggest time in your career, on this show. That was unbelievable, dude — unbelievable!”
Actually, at least 3 American Idol Finalists sang Hallelujah, and they were Lee DeWyze, Tim Urban, Jason Castro.
Let’s enjoy the beautiful voices from the three excellent American Idol Finalists:
Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze, and Casey James have made it into American Idol’s top three, just as we predicted earlier. Michael Lynche was sent packing by voters in a move which in hindsight easily predictable based on last week’s voting patterns. This now leaves Crystal, Lee, and Casey to square off on Idol next week, as Casey’s continued ability to get the show’s voters to completely ignore the judges’ panning of his performances will be put to the test, while Crystal appears to have regained any momentum she might or might not have lost, and Lee looks to get past what the judges thought was an off week for him.
Here we collected the top songs of American Idol 2010 Top 3 on Youtube:
