RIM Releases 5 New Blackberry Smartphones with Blackberry 7 and 1.2GHz Processor

Under the great threat from Apple iOS and Google Android systems, the manufacturer of Blackberry cell phone, Research In Motion, will not wait silently for death. Today in London, RIM has announced it will soon release 5 new Smartphones running Blackberry 7 OS, including 3 handsets from the Torch line and 2 from the Bold line.

The newest generation Blackberry 7 OS brings with more powerful features. There is a better web browser which can not only search information from online but also from the phone itself. Besides, the sound-control search function is added to the overall search feature. The newly added Blackberry Balance service can better balance users’ time between work and life.

1.2GHz Processor

All of the new devices are powered by a 1.2GHz processor and have 768MB of onboard RAM and up to 32GB SD card support. But each phone has its own perks, whether it’s 4G connectivity or a revamped design.

The Thinnest Bold Line

We have seen Blackberry Bold 9900 and 9930 earlier this year. They will have 10.5mm body which is the thinnest of Blackberry Bold line Smartphones. Besides the classic full QWERTY keyboard, Blackberry 9900 and 9930 also added the touch screen virtual keyboard design like Nokia E6. They also have a 2.8-inch touch screen with VGA (640×480) resolution and 287ppi pixel density and a 5MP camera with 720p HD video recording capability.

Blackberry Torch 9850/9860

The two Blackberry Smartphone will be equipped with a 3.7-inch touch screen with 800×480 resolution which is the highest of all Blackberry Smartphones. They are almost the same except for Blackberry Torch 9850 has better WLan support of CDMA2000 1xEV-DO rev.A/GSM/WCDMA/HSDPA, it is a Smartphone able to be used worldwide. While Blackberry Torch 9860 support GSM/WCDMA/HSDPA network so it is mainly aimed at Europe market and US carriers like T-mobile and AT&T.

Blackberry Torch 9810 with 4G Support

The Blackberry Torch 9810 could be seen as the successor of Torch 9800 with the same slide design. Different from the other 4 Smartphones, it will be equipped with a 3.25-inch VGA (640×480) touch screen and best of all it has 4G network support which brings faster web browsing speed of up to 14.4Mbps.


These 5 Blackberry new Smartphones will be sold by several carriers globally at the end of this month, though the exact prices are not known right now.
