It has been a year since Motorola and Verizon released the Motorola Droid 2 and now after a series of leaks, Motorola Droid 3 XT862 was finally released by Verizon Wireless on July 7th.
As the successor of Motorola Droid 2, it looks almost the same except for a few changes. Droid 3 is a side-slider Smartphone equipped with a Five-Row QWERTY keyboard. The addition of a dedicated row of number keys enables users to type in numbers fast without use key combination, which is the same with computers.
Screen and Processor:
In Motorola Droid 3 the screen has been upgraded from 3.7-inch WVGA (800×480) to 4.0-inch qHD (960×540) and thus brings the highest resolution for Smartphones. It also uses the most popular dual-core processor nowadays – TI OMAP4430 dual-core 1GHz processor which is built on ARM Cortex – A9 structure. Together with PowerVR SGX540 graphics processor, it makes Droid 3 really fast for apps, media, calling, emails and web browsing, etc.
The embedded camera is upgraded to 8MP in Motorola Droid 3 which has dual-LED, supports auto-focus and provides 1080p HD video recording and playback capacities. The Mirror Mode enables users to watch HD movies on Droid 3. Users can also view HD movies on LED TVs after connecting Droid 3 with TV through HDMI port.
According to official news, Motorola Droid 3 will begin sale at Verizon stores on July 14th. The pricing is $459.99 but if you sign a 2 years contact with Verizon you can get Droid 3 at $199.99.
