How to Print PowerPoint Slides with Notes

Someone on Yahoo Answers today asked this PowerPoint 2007 Print question:

  • "I am making a PowerPoint project on American History. I want to print a handout of a slide with notes. How can I print the slide while leaving room for students to take a note?"
  • You know, PowerPoint has a feature that can print out your handouts for audience. You can print a maxim of 9 slides on a single handout page. However, you’d better set it as 2 or 3 slides per page if you are going to leave room for students’ note taking.

Generally, you can choose to print by Handouts. But this case is different. You are recommended to choose to print by Note Pages option for note margin. Necessary for the students – your audience.

Then how to print a slide with notes in PowerPoint 2007? Follow the 7 steps below. Easy and quick!

Print Slides with Notes in PowerPoint 2007

  • Step 1: Go to your PowerPoint 2007 presentation, select the Office button > Print to enter the Print dialog box.
If you are using PowerPoint 2003, then choose File > Print… to display the Print dialog box.
  • Step 2: In the Printer drop down list, choose a proper printer you want to use for the slide(s) with notes.
  • Step 3: Under Settings tab, in the dropdown list that includes Print Layout and Handouts, select Notes Pages (print slides with notes) in the Print Layout section.
  • Step 4: To preview how the slide(s) look like, click the Preview button.
  • Step 5: To get back to the Print dialog box, click the Print button.
  • Step 6: You can also make other Print settings, e.g. the copies you want to print, Portrait Orientation, to print in black/white or color, etc.
  • Step 7: Finally, click OK to start your printing.
  • Easy, isn’t it? Personally, I think printing PowerPoint slides is not that friendly to the environment. Why not choose a more green way to share your PowerPoint lecture with students? For example, save your course slides in polish PDF, or convert it to DVD or video that requires no waste of paper.

    Less printing for greener planet!
