Microsoft PowerPoint and Windows Live Movie Maker could be a perfect combination to create a stunning short video for wedding, birthday, graduation, goodbye slideshow, etc. First of all, both programs are available: most people have Microsoft PowerPoint installed and Windows Live Movie Maker is totally free. Windows Live Movie Maker is designed to make simple short video out of pictures, but how to create these pictures? And PowerPoint is exactly the answer.

Part 1: Save PowerPoint as pictures
First you need to create the PowerPoint slideshow with all the text and picture contents involved. Please don’t waste your time to add animations, transitions, background music or video clips to PowerPoint, because all these effects will be removed when saving PowerPoint as pictures.
Step 1: Open your PowerPoint and click “Save As“, in the popup windows, choose an image format as “Save as Type“, like JPEG, GIF, PNG, TIFF.

Step 2: A prompt will show up, choose “Every Slide” to save all the PowerPoint slides as pictures.

Now you can see all the PowerPoint slides have been saved as pictures.

Part 2: Create video using Windows Live Movie Maker
Now it’s time to decorate these pictures with animations, transitions, music and video clips in the Windows Live Movie Maker.
Step 1: Import the pictures into Windows Live Movie Maker. Click “Home” → “Add videos and photos” and import all the output PowerPoint pictures.

Step 2: Add background music. Click “Add music” to insert songs as background music.

Because the timeline has been removed in Windows Live Movie Maker, you have to go to “Options” of “Music Tools” to set the timing of the songs.

Step 3: Add animations to the pictures. Click “Animations” tab and you can add transitions and animations to the pictures. To save time, you can apply one animation to all pictures.

Step 4: Add visual effects. These visual effects can be found in the picture format of PowerPoint.

Step 5: Project setting. Click “Project” tab and you can set:
Audio mix: Set audio and video to play at the same volume or one louder than another
Fit to music: Automatically adjust duration of pictures so that video and music end at the same time
Aspect ratio: Choose widescreen (16:9) or standard (4:3) screen size

Step 6: Save the movie. The output video format is WMV.

Besides PowerPoint and Windows Live Movie Maker, another combination is PowerPoint and PPT to video converter. The difference is that you should add animations, transitions, music and video clips, etc. when creating PowerPoint slideshow for all the features can be retained after conversion.
