At Research In Motion’s BlackBerry World 2011 in this May, the company pulled the curtain off the frequently leaked BlackBerry Bold 9900 together with Blackberry 7 OS and Blackberry 9300. Even at BlackBerry World, where everyone was expecting the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and the BlackBerry Monaco (the full touch screen device), RIM only delivered the former one.
The Blackberry Bold 9900 will follow the traditional design of Blackberry family which is bar cell phone with full physical keyboard. It will be 10.5mm thick and weigh 130g, but iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S are even thinner and lighter. Anyway, the most important of a Smartphone lies not here but its hardware.
This new Flagship Smartphone of RIM Blackberry Bold 9900 will run on Blackberry 7 OS, equip with 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM 8655 processor (single-core) and 2.8-inch 640×480 touch screen, embed with 768MB of RAM and 8GB of ROM. Other features are 5MP camera with 720p HD video recording and 1230mAh battery and support of WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS, etc. So, while not a stand-out amongst other high-end devices featuring other platforms, it’s certainly a beast of a phone when compared to any BlackBerry device before it.
It is said that Blackberry Bold 9900 will officially begin sale this September at retail price $799.99.
